Event: Cornstalk Date: August 9th, 1997 Location:Blenheim Ontario
Cornstalk ran for a few years and was the biggest outdoor bash in the area during those years. Cornstalk drew 5000-8000 people.
Bands performing: * Destroyer (Kiss tribute) * Hells Bells (AC/DC Tribute) * Exodus (Bob Marley Tribute) * Electric Voodoo (Jimmi Hendrix Tribute) * Hip Mission (Tragically Hip Tribute) * Whaling (Neill Young Tribute) *Chic Tunes * Tangled Puppet (picture) * Beggars Opera * Foster Child (Picture) * Rumblefish * This End Up * Social Slander * Luxury Christ * Square Root of Margaret (Picture) * Evil Empire (R.A.T.M Tribute) (Picture) * Gates of Rage (Picture) Notes:
Outdoor parties of this nature were the norm in the 1990’s, put on by a private group or person, on private property. A typical party was 200-800 people, featuring live cover bands, a pig roast and a small $5 cover.
These events came to an end, an end of an era. Society had changed and law enforcement was cracking down. Add the liability, risks, insurance, bylaws, rising costs, permits, food & safety regulations, new staging laws, and the hassle of putting on such an event was no longer worth it unless the government was stepping in to make a profit off it.

Band: Dead End Charlie Genre: Rock Home: Chatham-Kent Year: 2010
Members Frank E. Fitz: Lead Vocals, Guitar Aug Polowick: Lead Guitar Paul Demars: Drums, Backing Vocals Dwayne Purdy: Bass, Backing Vocals.
The group put out a Demo CD in 2008 that was a good solid rock record. This time around, Paul exchanges his lead vocal duties to play the drums where he feels most at home. So who is the new singer? No problem… the group scooped up Phil Smith (A.K.A. Franklin Edward Fitz) from one of the best local underground bands in Chatham “The Grave Misunderstanding“.
The groups new found talent, and fresh creative juices means nothing but good things for them right now.
Note: Paul also currently drums for the band Finding Core.
Aug also performs with The Southwest Blues Review.

Artist: Cassandra Vasik Also known as Cassandra Leigh Release: 1993 – Feels Like Home Genre: Country / Pop Home : Blenheim Ontario Canada
Cassandra Vasik is a Canadian country singer/songwriter from Blenheim, Ontario. Signed to Epic Records between 1990 and 2000, she released three studio albums for the label. In that same time span, she charted eleven singles on the Canadian country charts.
Winner of two Juno Awards.
Her second album fuses a traditional sound — like the Patsy Cline-ish opener “Sadly Mistaken” — with a modern and somewhat mysterious edge and look. The best songs feature an organic blend of acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, pedal steel and harmonica. Unfortunately, several others, including the lush, monster ballad “Almost Like You Cared,” resort to that dreaded synth-strings crutch. Still, every nuance of Vasik’s delivery suggests “contemporary woman,” sensitive and introspective but also self-assured and firmly in control of her own destiny. ~ Roch Parisien, All Music Guide.
All fourteen songs were written by Tim Thorney and Erica Ehm (with an assist by Ms. Vasik on several) who also produced the album. Erica Ehm was making a name for herself as MuchMusic’s (and Canada’s) first female VJ.
Highlights include Fortune Smiled On Me, a duet with Russell De Carle who was the lead singer of Canadian Country band, Prairie Oyster, Stand Your Ground, a fiddle-drenched two stepper and Lavender Hill, a beautiful waltz.
