Just a little note about the beginning of our little city.
Chatham is located in the southwestern corner of Ontario lying between Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair just off the 401 highway.
Chatham area was first settled back in 1793 when Sir. John Graves Simcoe the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada designated that the area at the forks of the river (now known as the Thames River and McGregors Creek) as a military post and the first family bought a piece of land.
There were only a few people living here when they had the Civil War of 1812, but by the year of 1851, the town had increased to 2000 people, and incorporated as a village, and in the year 1855 Chatham became a town.
The town was first built up along the south shore of the river and creek, and the roads were of mud and almost impassible in the spring and fall, and after 1855 King St. the business district was paved with cobblestone, brought in from Pelee Island on Lake Erie. In 1869 the cobblestone was replaced with wood and asphalt, which Chatham was one of the first in Canada, to have this kind of road surfacing.

__ _ ROBIN BANK$IS A FEARLESS WOMAN OF MUSIC who abandoned the comforts of Canadian life to follow her artistic path. In 1999, after a brief flirtation with success in the Canadian, Detroit and Chicago Blues scenes.
ROBIN BANK$ took a leap of faith and moved her career to Dallas Texas. There, she immersed herself in the rich Texas Blues tradition and was mentored by those artists who had initially inspired her, including the late “Sweet” Sam Myers, W.C. Handy Award winning Mississippi/Chicago Blues Artiste. Her close friend and teacher, Sam Myers, recorded 5 songs with ROBIN BANK$ on her internationally acclaimed and self produced, all original CD titled “Honestly”. She recorded a second CD while in Texas called “Live After Dark”. Miss Banks performed some 240 nights per year in and around Texas with the nation’s top Blues musicians including Fabulous Thunderbirds guitarists Johnny Moeller, Nick Curran and Kid Ramos, just to name a few.
The South loved her as she toured throughout Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Tennessee. In 2003 ROBIN BANK$ took her brand of Texas and Chicago style Blues to Europe where she performed throughout Belgium and Holland to music fans who appreciated her sound, style, sincerity, authenticity and dedication to this great African American art form. After the death of her mother in 2005, ROBIN BANK$ made another bold move and brought her career to the Caribbean island of Jamaica. She blended her seasoned collection of industry skills with the powerful music culture that exists in Jamaica and quickly became known as the “thee Blues singer in Jamaica” performing with legends like Earl “Chinna” Smith, former guitarist with Bob Marley and the Wailers. She took on the title of Jazz Band leader and Cabaret Singer and added Classic Soul, R&B and Reggae to her repertoire. She also developed and mentored young artists coming up through the Edna Manley College of the Performing Arts, teaching young singers about the magical vocal traditions of Blues and Jazz. The roots. She remained prolific touring, writing, recording and of course performing at some of the islands finest Resorts, Hotels and Festivals as well as the celebrated Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in 2007. In 2008 she sang at the Jamaica Pegasus in Kingston for the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the honourable Bruce Golding. The Jamaican press loved her bold and sassy stage persona! “A real entertainer…” An accomplished and internationally renowned vocalist, band leader, songwriter and record producer with close to three decades of performance experience under her belt.
Miss Banks began her career and her love affair with Jazz and Blues as a Jazz Vocal student at Humber College in Toronto in 1981. By 1992 she organized the debut incarnation of The ROBIN BANK$ Blues Band who won the Toronto Blues Society’s New Blues Talent Search in 1996. She went on to represent the Toronto Blues Society and compete at the International Blues Talent Competition in Memphis Tennessee. She would soon release her debut CD titled “Permanent Record”. In 1997 ROBIN BANK$ won the Stony Plain New Artist of the Year Award at the Toronto Blues Society’s Maple Blues Awards and in 1998 she was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards. ROBIN BANK$ also performed at the 10th Annual Women’s Blues Revue in Toronto as well as multiple appearances at the Harbourfront Jazz and Blues Festival, DuMaurier Jazz Festival, Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, Dallas Blues Festival TX, Blind Lemon Jefferson Festival TX, Bluestock Festival TN, Tyler Blues Festival TX plus others, too many to mention. “Banks has independently built a career deeply rooted in the Blues and Jazz traditions” “ A powerhouse vocalist with awesome stage presence” “Banks is the real deal”

Demo Kid note 2009: I heard much about this band growing up and it was nice to know that my uncle was in this band juring their 40th year celebration. Since then, I have been lucky to meet, play and record with members from this band recently. Growing up as a punk and metal kid, I would never be into this band musically, but as I grow up and appreciate music for music, I realize that this was one band that set the standards for the best around. A band with a local legend respected by generations.

Notes: The legendary Aberdeen hotel in Chatham is where this went down in true rock and roll fashion. I was in a band with drummer Barry’s brother in 1990, and I enjoyed going to hang out at his house. In the basement was where his drums were set up. Barry would come down and play the drums by himself for an hour as we watched him work his magic. Allot of talent in this band and it was always a good time to see them play live at the Ab.

Note from Shawn Daudlin:
Finally, my sophomore cd is released and boy, have I learned a lot. Alan Poaps and I put a good deal of energy into the writing and producing of these songs. This collection easily spans the last eight years of my life. The ups and downs. There were moments during this process that I truly felt like I was ‘Running On Empty’. Still present are the high energy pop songs you’d expect to find from a Shawn Daudlin recording. What’s new, I feel, is the heart put into some of the more serious ballads. The overall theme is still the highs and lows of love. Someone once said that you write what you know. I’m not sure anyone really truly knows about love, but God do I try. ‘Running On Empty’ has something for the youthful listener and for the more mature music lover. There are hints of Motown, an old school sound. To me…this is still Great Music. I hope the listener thinks so to.
Demo Kid (Shawn B) Note: I spent allot of time at Shawn’s house when I was a little kid since my father was in a band with his dad at the time. I don’t remember much from age 4-7, but I do know that watching them practice was my first time seeing a band. I remember clearly how vibrant his father was. He owned the room. He is a character like no other I have ever met in my life. I just found out today about Shawn’s music & theatre career and that I knew his dad. Very cool. Because of this, it does not surprise me one bit that Shawn has a passion for music and entertaining. He was born with it. Cheers Shawn. _ * Watch the release preview below.

Tracks: 01. My Reflection In Your Eyes 02. Too High To Climb (feat. Toni Anderson)
Album Notes:
Apmar Music is excited to announce that two new songs are now available with the release of Shawn Daudlin’s promotional CD. Shawn’s upcoming full-length CD, which will include the two singles, will be released within the next few months.
The promotional release showcases two new tracks. ‘My Reflection in Your Eyes’ is a beautiful, acoustic driven ballad. Shawn sings about the loss of love and as we all know, love never leaves quickly, but like an unwelcome dinner guest, takes its time exiting. ‘My Reflection in Your Eyes’ recently received a honorable mention from the Billboard Songwriting Contest.
With tongue firmly held in cheek, Shawn and soul singer Toni Anderson proudly wave the break-up flag with ‘Too High To Climb’. This retro disco tune laughs in the face of a love that lasts forever. After all, some mountains are just too high to climb!
You can’t help but smile when you listen to the music of Shawn Daudlin. He is an artist whose musical influence draws upon the very roots of what music is today. From the first note sung, it is apparent that Shawn is a singer who loves what he does and has a distinct appreciation for music.
Together with Producer/Songwriter Alan Poaps (Apmar Music), Shawn has collaborated on many recording projects, writing lyrics and melodies to compliment the arrangements written by Alan. Some of Toronto’s finest players have worked with this duo. Talented musicians, who have toured with the likes of Bruce Cockburn, Holly Cole and Big Sugar, provide the riffs and grooves.
Shawn’s self-titled, debut recording, received regular airplay on radio in Germany, Denmark and Southwestern Ontario. Extensive internet promotion through radio and Pop Music fan sites have helped to create awareness of Shawn’s music and broaden his audience base. Bio You can’t help but smile when you listen to the music of Shawn Daudlin. He is an artist whose musical influence spans decades. From the first note sung, it is apparent that Shawn is a singer who loves what he does and has a distinct appreciation for Pop music.
Shawn was born in Chatham, Ontario. Having a musician/songwriter for a father, who was popular locally, Shawn grew up not only listening to but singing along with all styles of music. At a very early age he captured the attention of his Elementary School Music Teacher. Before long he was asked to sing a solo in the Christmas concert and became an active member in the school choir. Many changes marked Shawn’s early teenage years. His family relocated to the small town of Tilbury, Ontario and at 15, he was plunged into the “High School” experience. Frustrated by the fact that his new school had cancelled the music program the previous year, Shawn enrolled in Theatre Arts. Having had some acting experience in Community Theatre, he embraced this new found passion. His teacher, Lynn Fisher, worked with him extensively to improve his craft. Shawn’s hard work paid off with lead roles in many of the plays performed at his high school and eventually to winning an Outstanding Performance award in the Sears Drama Festival.
Except for a few guest spots with his father’s band, Shawn’s singing would take a back seat. His love for acting was undisputed and brought him to the Music Theatre Program at Sheridan College in Oakville. Everyday for the next three years, Shawn acted, danced and sang in Music Theatre productions. It was during his college years that Shawn finally decided what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Shawn wanted to be a Recording Artist. He wanted to SING! To do this successfully, he needed to retrace his steps and revisit his Pop roots.Together with Producer/Songwriter Alan Poaps, Shawn began to plan his first recording. His only writing experience being English class poetry and the odd short story, Shawn was hesitant to put the pen to paper and start writing himself songs. Convinced that if he didn’t do it nobody else would, Shawn began to write lyrics and melodies to compliment the arrangements written by Alan Poaps. This collaboration took off like wild fire! Two years and fifty songs later, Shawn and Alan had easily enough material for three CDs. One hurtle down, but there were many more to go. Not only did they have to decide which songs they were going to use to introduce themselves, they also had to consider the many expenses they were going to incur recording them.
Temporarily putting the project on hold, Shawn and Alan took several jobs producing tracks for corporate functions, as well as creating three R&B shows for Ontario Place. The money earned from these enabled them to build their own 24 track digital recording studio, APMAR Music. The recording began. Alan was able to hire some of the best musicians in Toronto for the sessions. Talented players who have worked and toured with the likes of Bruce Cockburn, Holly Cole and Big Sugar, provided the riffs and grooves. Eager to see the release of his first recording, Shawn sang his heart out, worked diligently and waited….sometimes not so patiently. Not one to sit around and do nothing, Shawn also created the concept and design for the packaging. A team of many talents, Shawn and Alan kept their hands in all of the pots and are very proud of the end result. Shawn’s self-titled debut recording, is simply a dream realized. Joyous Pop music, often commenting on the various degrees of love and two powerful ballads, one incredibly spiritual and the other a sublime testimonial. These songs illustrate the many facets of Shawn’s voice. As his father would say, “THIS IS GOOD MUSIC!”

Ward Bass began in 2005. After 20 years of involvement in music and playing numerous types and brands of basses, Dwane decided to design and build a custom bass on his own. After building his first bass, he decided to further his knowledge by taking a lutherie course with master builder Joe Kovacic of Lado Guitars in Lindsay Ontario.
Now Dwane has designed and made numerous basses and guitars and offers a number of bass models as well as custom orders, based on customer specifications. All Ward basses come standard with EMG active or passive pickups, Aguilar preamps are available. Hardware and accessory options are endless on custom orders.
Now located in Strathmore Alberta, Ward Bass has opened a new workshop ready to support local and international musicians.
