The Official tribute to Chatham’s legendary Rock Bar, the Aberdeen.
Aberdeen Reunion * Sat. August 13th, 2016 * At Bar Out Back, Chatham (Behind Swiss Chalet) * 160 Keil Drive South, Chatham, Ontario. * The event sold out. * View above pic in original large size here.
* The show began at 8pm to a full house. Some of the bands on the bill were reuniting for the first time in years. Lyra reunited for the first time in 28 years and played flawlessly. Beggar’s Opera, Foster Child, & Electric Voodoo all shared in their respective reunions. The Aberdeen had closed 20 years ago this year.
* Highlights included the people who attended. It was a love fest of a true nature, in that all that attended, were attendee’s from back in the day. Many people signed the huge Aberdeen reunion sign, which can be seen at Bar Out Back, in Chatham.

Bio: A collaboration of friends formed to push the envelope of technical music. These experienced musicians hail from such extreme acts as Closed Casket Funeral and The Coalition Design just to name a couple. Most of the members had moved to different parts of the country to pursue different things, but after a couple years they knew something was missing. After a discussion about forming this project, they all agreed to move back to our common ground of Windsor and create something much more mature that will continue to raise the bar as time goes on.

Chatham Connection:Mainman Matt Antaya is from Chatham-Kent.
Notes: Ask founding member Matt Antaya about his alt-rock band Self Cynic and his answer may surprise you. Songwriter and lead singer, Antaya, conceived his project as perhaps the opposite of a band. Self Cynic is an evolving experiment whose rotating lineup aims to demonstrate that a collection of songs will communicate their character despite varying musicians and arrangements.
Matt began writing music at age 12, then went on to University (Waterloo) and spent allot of time working in studios, eventually making his way to Montreal.

Members: Mike Davidson (Spaz) – Vocals Cory Chauvin – Guitars J.P. Caza – Guitar Roger Beaudry – Bass Paul Turgeon – Drums
Notes: Lesser Known was heading into the direction of Metal with strong hints of rap induced play. All bands could learn a thing or two about presentation from them. They were probably the best run indie band in Canada. Do It Yourself motto in full swing with great posters, band fanzines, website and studio blogs, posters, merch, media, great production, you name it. They had all that perfected 10 years before anyone else could spell check their own bio.
Back in the day, Spaz was a leading force with his emotional stage presence, sucking you in to the secret circle that was the Lesser Known Zone. He had mastered this with his previous band D.N.A. which also included some members from the current band.
