The group formed in the spring of 2002 as a soulful solid rock band called Southwest Dirt. They started off covering the likes of ZZ TOP, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and other great acts.
From 2002-2006 they played heavily at bars, parties, Stag & Does, and other events. During those first four years, Nate Spicer was the lead guitarist for the band.
In 2007, the band began to shift to writing and playing original music. It began when Mike (Vocals) entered the studio in 2007 to record an original entitled “Simple Times”. The song was played often on the Rock95.1FM Indie Show. The song was recorded with the help of Bob Hiltz (Bass), Jason Guttridge (Drums), and  Aug (guitar).

South Paw – Simon Sayz (2008)

May 2, 2009

Artist: SouthPaw
Release: S.T.
Name: Cary Templeman
Home: Chatham-Kent
Year: 2008
First CD Release

Notes: DJ SouthPaw, a pioneering dj, who has been in the scene since starting C.I.A. (The Rap Gods) in 1990.  They were getting attention from A&M Records publisher John Redmond, they suddenly disbanded just as attention was growing, and DJ SouthPaw was born.
Travelling through out the U.S. and Canada promoting his style for several years he worked with several songwriters/producers of note. Currently he’s been honing his craft and producing a flood of material, with songwriter/producer Ted Bushey, along with Djn’ several clubs in the area, notably The ROCK, a high energy dance club in Chatham’s downtown.

This is a video from my ol’ high school classmate.
He just put out the ‘Chat-Town Hustle’ CD which I picked up from him recently.
